Case study

When I started working with Edison in 2019, its brand was rooted in a bland 90s corporate style with cliched images and treatments.

Through a process of iteration the brand was transformed, in two stage, into a vibrant and contemporary identity that resonates both Edison clients and Edison staff.

2019

The existing Edison visual identity was rooted in the 2000’s with an ultra-conservative and very corporate approach.

PS These are NOT my work!

2020

A complete rejuvenation of the old VID introduced a whole new tone of voice.

A bright, welcoming and approachable sky image, colour graded to complement the corporate green was introduced as the positive and optimistic base of the new VID.

Three colours were sampled form the sky and introduced: teal, dark teal and vanilla. These brought energy to the brand without being overly bright.

The existing font was retained, but used in a much bolder manner. An underscore was also introduced for titles in order to add contemporary visual interest.

A mountain graphic was later introduced to complement the sky.

Anecdotal results

This new VID was received very positively by Edison employees.

I have been told that the majority felt rejunivated and re-energised once they began working with collateral based on the new visual identity.

Staff satisfaction and productivity both rose noticeably.

2022

A new refresh introduced two new fonts and dropped the underscore used on titles. The new condensed title font also allows for longer titles in the same space – a constant requirement at Edison.

New textural elements were also introduced to add variety and depth to the VID. A selection of luxurious materials (leather, silk, marble, wood) help elevate the brand proposition to a more premium level.

2023

The VID was once again enhanced with the addition of two new colours – light blue and (primarily) light pink.

The careful use of pink introduced a new dimension to the brand, adding both visual interest and dynamic energy, whilst complementing the existing teal perfectly.
